Read and catch up on announcements

Where official school and parent-org news lives, how to catch up after a busy week, and how announcements differ from chat.

Announcements are the official channel: news from your parent organization and school that every family should see. Unlike chat, they’re one-way — a small set of designated people can post, and everyone else reads.

That design is the point. Your school’s announcements feed stays signal, not discussion — the discussion happens over in Messages.

Reading announcements

Open Announcements from the main menu. Newest first, unread ones marked. Each announcement can carry the full story — text, images, attached files, links to sign-ups or events.

You can usually react to an announcement (a quick 👍 tells the poster it landed), but you can’t reply in the feed. If an announcement raises a question, ask in the relevant channel or contact the person who posted.

Catching up

Life happens; announcements wait. The feed keeps everything, so after a hectic week you scroll until things look familiar. Unread markers make it easy to see where you left off. There’s no “mark all read” panic — reading one announcement doesn’t hide the others.

If you’d rather be nudged, announcements can reach you three ways — pick your mix in your notification settings:

  • Push — a notification when something’s posted.
  • Digest — announcements included in your daily summary.
  • Text message — for schools that use SMS, urgent announcements also arrive as a text with a link back to the app. See Turn announcement texts on or off.
