Transfer credit between families

For commitment officers: moving credit from one family to another — a graduating family passing on surplus, or fixing credit that landed on the wrong family.

Two families, one number that should move between them: the graduating family donating its surplus hours, the credit that landed on the Nguyens when the Nunezes did the work. Transfer credit moves it in one step, with the paper trail built in.

Make a transfer

  1. Open Admin › Service Program › Transfer Credit.
  2. Pick the from family and the to family, the category if your school tracks more than one, the amount, and a reason — “graduating family passing surplus hours.”
  3. Transfer.

The move writes a matching pair of entries — a debit on the source, a credit on the destination — so both families’ history shows exactly what happened and why. There’s no undo button, deliberately: correct a mistake by transferring back, and the record stays honest.

For a family that splits its commitment between households, you’ll also pick which household the credit leaves from or lands on — the page asks when it matters, and the source side’s balance is checked per household.

Recent transfers are listed right below the form, so “did that go through?” has an answer without leaving the page.

If the page says transfers are off

Transfers are a per-school choice, off by default. A school admin turns them on from the commitment categories page (the “allow moving credit between families” switch) — see Set up commitment categories.
