Assign moderators

For school admins: choosing who reviews flagged messages — by role or by person, for one channel, a channel type, or the whole queue.

Who reviews flagged messages is your school’s choice, not Lumicura’s. The Moderators page is where you make it — grant moderation to a role or to a specific person, over one channel, a type of channel, or the whole queue.

Open Admin › Messages › Moderators.

The three layers

Always moderators. School administrators moderate every channel and see the whole queue. This floor is built in and can’t be removed — there’s always someone accountable.

Committee chairs. A single switch: when it’s on, chairs moderate their own committee’s channel and channels they created. Turn it off to grant chairs only what’s assigned explicitly below.

Assignments. Each row grants moderation to a role or a person, over a scope you pick:

  • Whole queue — every channel, plus reports from ad-hoc groups and direct messages. This is the widest grant; reported DMs route only to whole-queue moderators.
  • A channel type — all school-wide, grade, committee, or board channels.
  • A specific channel.

New schools start with one assignment — board members over the whole queue — and it’s yours to keep, narrow, or delete. You can assign anyone, including a parent with no other role: being a moderator is an assignment here, not a job title.

What an assignment gives someone

Everyone you assign sees the Moderation queue in their Messages sidebar, scoped to what you granted, and gets notified when new items arrive — an inbox entry plus an optional push alert they control in their own notification settings. What they can do with the queue is covered in Moderate a conversation.
