Find and sign up for a shift
Browse volunteer opportunities, pick a slot that fits your schedule, and claim it — plus where your sign-ups live afterward.
Every volunteer opportunity at your school lives in one place — no more chasing a sign-up link from three newsletters ago.
Browse what’s available
- Open Volunteering from the main menu.
- Browse the open opportunities. Each shows what’s needed, when, where, and how many spots remain.
- Tap one to see the details — the description, the shifts (specific time slots), and how many volunteers each shift still needs.
Opportunities often come with several shifts — setup crew Friday night, morning and afternoon shifts Saturday, cleanup Sunday. Each shift is claimed separately.
- Pick the shift that fits your schedule.
- Tap Sign up.
That’s it. The credit lands on your family’s shared tally whoever in your household works the shift (see Understand your family’s commitment; in a split-household family, it lands on the household of the parent who signed up). The remaining-spots count updates for everyone else, and the shift appears in My shifts.
Looking to bring items, cover a snack week, or book a conference time instead? Those live in Sign-Up Sheets — see Sign up for items or a time slot.
My shifts
My shifts is your list of everything you’ve claimed — check it before committing the same Saturday twice. Each entry shows the details and gives you the option to cancel or change if plans shift — see Cancel or change a sign-up.
If a shift is full
Spots are first-come, first-served, and the app won’t overbook a shift — but full isn’t always final. When a full shift offers a waitlist, join it: if a family cancels, the first family on the waitlist is moved into the spot automatically. Popular events also often add shifts as the date approaches.
